Even though Saul obeyed most of the instructions, God will not accept incomplete obedience

He waited for pronouncement of judgment before he repented!
His prayer was to Samuel not to God (verse 25)
We must not change the instruction of God for whatever reason (Rev. 22:18,19)
We must not follow multitude to do evil (Exodus 23:2).
We must also reject all evil suggestions and hold fast to what they have in God lest any man take our place (Proverbs 1: 10; Revelation 2:25; 3:11)

Whoever God rejects, we must also reject
