How to Make Chinese Hot Mustard and Basic Country Mustard

Ingredients: Chinese Hot Mustard: Basic Country Mustard:
Dry Mustard (Powder) Sugar Boiling Water Vegetable Oil You will need a medium sauce pan, measuring spoons, measuring cup, and a mixing spoon. Yellow Mustard Seed Mustard Powder Cold Water Apple Cider Vinegar Salt You will need a mortar and pestle, measuring spoons, measuring cup, and a mixing spoon.

Chinese Hot Mustard: Step 1: Measure out 1/4 cup of dry mustard. Mix in 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil.

Chinese Hot Mustard: Step 2: Stir in 1/4 cup boiling water. Mix mixture thoroughly. Put mixture into a container. Let stand for 8 hours before serving. Store in refrigerator.

Basic Country Mustard:
Step 1: Grind 2 tablespoons of mustard seed to desired texture (there is no correct texture)using a mortar and pestle. Mix the ground mustard with 1/4 cup brown or yellow mustard powder.

Basic Country Mustard:
Step 2: Mix mustard seed and powder with 1/4 cup cold water. Let this mixture sit for 10 minutes. Add in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Basic Country Mustard:
Step 3: Blend well with a mixing spoon. Pour mixture into a container. Refrigerate overnight before using.
