Do volcanoes all produce the same type of lava?
What is the difference is between Lava and Magma? Write out the following and find the best words to fill in the gaps: Some lava is quite thin and fluid (low v________) whilst other lava is more thick and sticky (high v_________). The first type is called BASIC lava and contains lower levels of s_______. It is also h______ and has less g___ dissolved in it. The second type has more s_________, is c_______ and has more g___ dissolved in it. It is called ACID lava.

Why are volcanoes different shapes?
Volcanoes can be divided into different types a number of ways, but one simple way is into shield or composite (aka stratovolcano) Use the Internet to find out the following: An example of each type (include their geographical location and where they are in relation to any plate boundary) What shape their cone is – find some idea of size, if you can What type of lava they produce With reference to their lava type, explain the shape of each volcano How is the type of lava related to where the volcano occurs?
