Economics beyond the logic of profit: Learning from the wisdom of African “Philosophy of Ubuntu” Economics (oikonomia) in its classical sense is the science whose subject is the gathering, cultivating and the distribution of the earth’s material resources with a view to the thriving of human communities Three (3) nuances of oikonomia A. A household in which God wants to give people access to life. This is the deeper theological meaning of “economy” whose concern is livelihood. B. A household of creation in which God wants creatures to live together in interdependence: Here is the religious ground for “integral ecology” whose concern is mutual and beneficial relatedness with nature. C. The world that God wants to make into home by establishing divine justice and peace among the people and nations

Created a global two value systems that works against solidarity, equality and Justice: A. Solidarity Common Wealth Enriches everybody Peace B. Ego Individual Wealth Impoverishes everybody Chaos

The Future You The future worth building is one that includes everyone
A. There is no INCLUSION without a CHOICE to live in SOLIDARITY: The universe is a living organism. Each and everyone’s life is deeply tied to the other. Inability to live this reality is an ethical crisis. Peace is achieved only when everyone is included. It is not charity; it is justice. Solidarity is a courageous choice of women and men to come to the leve of the other= LOVE SDGs= Inclusion= No one should be left behind B. Movement towards leaving others behind is an expression of a wound in the heart (Individual ethical crisis). This is expressed through political, economic and scientific choices as well as in the relationships among individuals, peoples and countries. C. Solidarity is not an automatic mechanism but consistent choices in the midst of contradictions that solidarity the default attitude instead of reducing it to social work. D. No system can nullify our desire to do good. Doing nothing and blaming it on the system is part of the ethical crisis- the good Samaritan, Mother Teresa
