Egyptians built pyramids to protect the pharaohs bodies from floods, wild animals, and robbers. They placed the pharaoh’s personal belongings – clothing, furniture, weapons, jewelry – in the pyramids because they thought it would make the pharaohs happy in the afterlife.

In which social class were farmers? What was a farmers life like in ancient Egypt? Farmers belonged to the 2nd to lowest social class. They usually worked on land that was owner by wealthy nobles and paid their rent with a portion of the crops. They generally lived in simple, one room houses and had simple diets of bread, vegetable and fruit.
