‘the fruit is … peace’ the search for peace – we all want it, but few have it OT: ‘shalom’ – ‘wholeness / total wellbeing’ Jehovah Shalom – the God who has all things under control NT: eirēnē – ‘tranquillity / serenity’ undisturbableness of God

‘the fruit is … peace’ it influences so many areas of life and relationships this peace is not a spiritual marshmallow a garrison for heart and mind (Philippians 4:7) peace is not the absence of problems, it is the presence of Jesus Isaiah 26:3 ‘perfect peace’

‘the fruit is … peace’ this peace is comparable to shock absorbers on a car turbulence on the outside, peace reigning on the inside (cf. John 14/16) ‘transcends understanding’ ‘in acceptance, there is peace’ need to RIP before death Jesus said: ‘go in peace’

‘the fruit is … peace’ No God. No peace. Know God. Know peace.
‘When peace like a river …’ cf. John 14:27 God takes all of life’s broken pieces – and gives us an unbroken peace
