Look at the images. Notice the red strips with auspicious sayings. Notice the signs in the middle of doors with the character 福 fú, inviting good fortune into the homes via a play on words: 倒福 dào fú, meaning 'fu upside-down' sounds the same as 到福 dào fú 'good luck arriving‘.
