2 1. ¿Qué es la diferencia entre tu y tú?
Tú with an accent mark means you (familiar). It is a subject pronoun. Tu without an accent mark means your, as in your book. It is a possessive adjective because it describes who the book belongs to.

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES (SINGULAR) 1a mi (my) Nuestro(a) (Our) 2a tu (your familiar) 3a su (your form, his, her) (your pl., their) Remember the steps to choosing the correct possessive adjective? Let’s review. 1. Is the item in possession singular or plural? Book is singular so, use a singular possessive. 2. Who does it belong to? It is MY book, therefore use mi. My book = Mi libro The possessive and item in possession should match in number.

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES (PLURAL) 1a mis (my) Nuestros(as) (Our) 2a tus (your familiar) 3a sus (your form, his, her) (your pl., their) Plural possessives are exactly the same aside from the –s. Go through the same process. 1. Is the item in possession singular or plural? Books are plural so, use a plural possessive. 2. Who does it belong to? They are MY books, therefore use mis. My books = Mis libros The possessive and item in possession should match in number.

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES (SINGULAR) 1a mi (my) Nuestro(a) (Our) 2a tu (your familiar) 3a su (your form, his, her) (your pl., their) When stating OUR, a third step is required. Add it on to your notes. 1. Is the item in possession singular or plural? Mother is singular, so use a singular possessive 2. Who does it belong to? She is our mother, but do you use nuestro or nuestra? 3. *The gender of the item in possession determines the gender. Mother is feminine, therefore use nuestra. Our mother = Nuestra madre The possessive and item in possession should match in number.

7 Possessive PRONOUNS This material is new!
Possessive pronouns work the same way. The difference is the following: My book = Possessive adj. The book is mine= Possessive pronoun

Is the item in possession singular or plural? The book is mine. SINGULAR 2. Who does it belong to? The book is mine. MÍO o MÍA 3. *The gender of the item in possession determines the gender. El libro is masculine, therefore use the masculine possessive (even if you are a girl). El libro es mío. The possessive and item in possession should match in number, BUT the item determines the gender!!

Is the item in possession singular or plural? The shirts are his. PLURAL 2. Who does it belong to? The shirts are his. SUYO o SUYA? 3. *The gender of the item in possession determines the gender. Las camisas are feminine, therefore use a feminine possessive (even if you are a boy. Las camisas son suyas. The possessive and item in possession should match in number, BUT the item determines the gender!!
