4. Ratio
Ratio compares part:part In 24 fish there are 6 gold and 18 black This is written as 6:18 Using the same ratio if there was 1 gold fish there would be 3 black. 1:3 It’s a bit like simplifying fractions!

6. Proportion
Proportion compares part in relation to whole. How many fish are there in total? The proportion of gold fish out of this total is 6. 6 out of 24. 6/24 Simplify this! ¼ What is that as a percentage? As a decimal?
