The Dark Ages While watching the video, write three characteristics of this time in history.
The Dark Ages were the time in Europe between the fall of Western Rome and the beginning of the Renaissance (~ CE). It was a time plagued by war & disease.

The saxons Unique Fact! Where did they come from? North Sea (Sea that separates England from NW Europe) The earliest king to unite & rule England, was a Saxon named Egbert. Where did they invade? England

Central Asia (north of the Black Sea) The Magyars were excellent horse-men, just like the Mongols! Where did they invade? Hungary

The vikings Unique Fact! Where did they come from?
Scandinavia (modern-day Sweden, Finland & Norway) The Vikings were known for their shipbuilding & ability to attack from rivers (meaning, they could attack in-land cities)! Where did they invade? Russia… and much later, England
