Senator Joseph McCarthy was responsible for the 2nd Red Scare: (McCarthyism)
He made accusations and charged regular people with being Communists or holding Anti-American views with no evidence

In 1950 McCarthy created a list of 205 government employees he said were suspected Communists
Panic and hysteria sets in once again as people are afraid of being labeled as a Communist or Communist supporter
By 1954 he charges the Army with being Communists and his public support faded

The 1950s are dominated by the government building nuclear weapons, restricting immigration, watching Americans at home and trying to get to Space
Meanwhile the Soviet Union is making new friends in other countries…
