PDR 2016 A Guide for Academic Staff 1. Plan 2. Progress 3. Review

2 Click on the PDR & Recruitment login link

3 Login using your OneID and password.

4 Click on ‘Open’

5 Click the ‘Performance plan’ and ‘Development plan’ tabs to navigate back and forth.
Click the ‘Start’ tab for detailed instructions and examples. 1. Write or edit up to five objectives with relevant indicators and target dates as discussed with your manager/supervisor. Refer to the ‘Start’ tab for examples. 2. Click ‘Upload document’ if you wish to attach one. 3. Click ‘Add objective’ to write additional objectives, indicators and target dates. Meet with your manager/supervisor to discuss and agree on the plans. You and your manager/supervisor can both see and make changes to the plans. Include a standard health and safety objective (refer to the ‘Start’ tab). Any changes you make will automatically save. 4. Click ‘Next’ to go to your development plan.

6 Meet with your manager/supervisor to discuss and agree on your plan.
Type your developmental goals and activities. Refer to ‘Start’ tab for examples of goals and activities. Click ‘Next’ to go to the sign off page.

7 Hold the cursor over your name and click ‘Log out’ to exit the system.
Click ‘Print report’ if you would like to print your plans. When you’re ready, click ‘Sign off’. Your manager/supervisor needs to review and sign off your plans before you can move to the ‘Progress’ stage.

8 Click the Start tab at any time for instructions and examples.

9 Examples of objectives and indicators
Improve quality of the XYZ program Program materials reviewed and updated within agreed timeframes. Feedback from students indicates the program helped them understand the key principles and theoretical underpinnings of XYZ. Develop a new model for the relationship between A and B. Literature review and data collection completed. Model and application paper drafted. Suitable opportunities for dissemination/publication identified. Design, develop and implement a mentoring program for students. Program materials developed and delivered within agreed timeframes. Feedback from key stakeholders indicates they were informed and consulted. Feedback from participants indicates the program helped them develop and increase their confidence. 10 What safety objective do I need to include?
Copy and paste the relevant performance objective and indicators into your plan: Level Performance objective Performance indicator Professional & Academic Staff Contribute to a safe and healthy working environment. Relevant health and safety online modules and/or training completed. Compliance with the University’s health and safety policies and procedures. Managers & Supervisors Foster a safe and healthy working environment. Health and safety risks within the local work area identified and addressed. Staff noncompliance with or knowledge gaps relating to the University’s health and safety policies and procedures identified and addressed. Local health and safety plans developed and implemented. Senior Management & Executive Foster a safe and healthy working environment across <relevant portfolio>. Health and safety risks across <relevant portfolio> identified and addressed. 11 Examples of development goals and activities
Development activity Improve project management skills Develop and seek feedback from a senior colleague on a large scale research project plan. Lead a collaborative research project. Attend the Managing Projects workshop. Build HDR supervision skills Seek feedback from past HDR students. Develop a network of and regularly meet with other HDR supervisors to share insights and learnings. Attend the LTC Supervising to Completion workshop. 12 How do I access or copy last year’s objectives?
2. Click on ‘Performance reviews’ 1. Click on ‘About me’ 4. Select ‘Search’ 3. Select ‘Complete’ from the drop down menu. 5. Select ‘Print report’ from the ‘I want to…’ drop down menu to view last year’s objectives.
