CITEC’s staff includes a business advisor who is a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual and FSSC auditor qualified. A facility assessment and audit was followed by the development and implementation of a food safety plan and a customer communication plan which assured Lakeside Container’s customers that they were legally compliant based on clarification of the requirements, hazard analysis, preventive controls and corrective action/verification.

Challenge
The Food Safety Modernization Act compliance requirements created confusion and challenge throughout the food industry supply chain. Consequently, there was a lack of consistency in requirements being placed on Lakeside Container by its customers. The challenge was to clarify requirements, ensure that that the company’s products were in compliance, and provide customers with the necessary documentation.
The single document satisfied the requirements of all of Lakeside’s clients resulting in customer retention and uninterrupted supply.
