2. EARLY LIFE
Born in Baie-Comeau, Quebec Attended boarding school in New Brunswick Money was very tight for the Mulroneys

3. Was a lawyer before becoming involved in politics
Very well spoken and
charismatic

4. RISE TO POWER
In 1983 the current leader Joe Clark was becoming unpopular, decided to hand off leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party Won the largest majority government in the history of Canada running against the largely unpopular Trudeau and Turner

5. POLICIES
Believed that the only way to win over the Country was to win over Quebec, determined to bring them into the Constitution. Advocated free trade, wanted to open up trading with the United States Tried to restore confidence in the Canadian economy

6. FALL
Tried twice to bring Quebec into the constitution, but each attempt backfired Polls showed Mulroney’s support at an all time low.

7. AIRBUS SCANDAL
Accused of accepting bribes in return for the then Crown corporation’s purchase of numerous Airbus airplanes Caused dissent among Canadian citizens

8. In February 1993 Mulroney decided to step down from power Hounded by numerous scandals, economic depression and a new tax. Citizens never familiarized with his charismatic side, he faced much criticsm.
