Starting off The family first came in contact with CAMHS for support following the loss of their dad, and the difficulties they were faced with on an individual and group level. Identified by the staff involved in their 1:1 work that family work may provide some additional support for the family, which we started in April. Idea of co-constructing creative stories with families introduced during a skills session from Dr Gary Robinson taught on CYP-IAPT SFP. Shared the idea with the family, but initially thought about how we can build their story… Introduced the possibility of using the PPRR model also taught during CYP-IAPT SFP by Dr John Burnham.

Why did we use a creative story
Creative stories are used within family work as a platform for people to express their experiences though the means of story telling. The family reported that it helped them to: “Share understanding of what happened with each other” “Through the creation, it helped me to see how we all fight on the same team. It built strength” “Helped me to think more imaginatively”

My story own remains I was discharged from my 1:1 worker in October
My recovery has been largely enabled by my own creative story & independent motivation. I had some inspiration from A Time To Come, but An Alternative Universe has supported and encouraged me to move forward and not to dwell on the past.
