2 Its History -Aniturri opened the doors in When the school opened its doors, there were two buildings: one in the building called the Monks and another one in the Moncloa neighbourhood. These two buildings were separated by 1 km more o less. The students studied some subjects in the Monks, and they had to go to the other building to study other subjects. But now, there is only one building: Aniturri. -The Secondary School has this name because there is a stream near the school called Aniturri. -In 1990, fashion and engineering were taught in Aniturri. It was a vocational training school until they stopped teaching fashion because there weren’t any students. -At the beginning, they used to teach in Basque and Spanish. But now, the teaching language is Basque, and Spanish is a compulsory subject. - Some years later, the Basque Government centralized the vocational training courses in Gasteiz. Aniturri is now a (Post-)Secondary School

4 Location Click on this link: Agurain (Araba) Located in the historical territory of Alava, Salvatierra/Agurain belongs to the homonym municipality. It is placed between the Entzia and Iturrieta ranges, with spectacular beech woods, and is formed by five towns among which Salvatierra/Agurain stands out, as it is the administrative capital of the area and has a medieval old part surrounded by a wall. It was declared Historic Monument in The old part is divided in three main streets: Zapatari, Carnicería and Mayor. The latest is home to the churches of Santa María and San Juan Bautista, both with altarpieces from the 16th century. Moreover, we'd like to underline that the way of Saint James passes through the municipality. Nature and prehistoric remains The landscape offers many routes, both trekking and mountain bike routes. It's worth visiting some of the megalithic monuments in the surroundings: the dolmen of Sorginetxe in Arrizala, the cromlech of Mendiluze and the menhir of Itaida, situated in the sierra of Entzia. Those remains are near the Opakua mountain pass and are very well maintained, which shows their historical interest. 7 International projects:
In we got involved in a Comenius 1 project called Education through Sports with SZ Silesia, a school in Poland. Since we have developed an innovative project on European Dimension, which includes a trip to London, a European Studies syllabus and the celebration of Spring Day. We joined the ELOS net IN 2007 and we have started a multilateral Comenius project called Learning through European Agriculture. We exchange s with a school in Breukelen, the Netherlands. As a result of the implementation of the new Basque Curriculum and being an ELOS school, we teach Citizenship and Ethics in English. We have attended training courses on European Dimension for three years.

8 ELOS The aim of Elos is to prepare our students to be European citizens. It is very important for us to meet European students, that’s why we are very interested in our Comenius project. The teachers from France, Ireland, Germany and UK visited our school in October 2008.
