Partners Mrs. Miller November
The Partners Program is an intergenerational program where senior citizens from Springvale and the Hendrick Hudson Community develop relationships with BMMS students and share experiences, stories and friendship. We meet in the BMMS Library on Tuesday afternoons with special events taking place at BMMS or other locations. The schedule of meetings and events is set in the fall. Students may take the late bus home.

Computer Club Mrs. Ruiz (Room 206) Tuesday
This club provides an opportunity for students to practice skills learned and/or students can choose an application that they are interested in to create their own individual project. Students learn how to be self-sufficient, how to use Internet resources to their advantage, and how to use technology resources to develop skills to help them learn, design and create. Computer club meets every other Tuesday.

Student Store Students can work in the student store, which is opened two days each week. Any sixth grader wanting to work in the store should see Mrs. Ruiz in room 206.

Investment Club Mr. Hayden (Room 311) Meets every other Thursday
Sixth graders will learn how to invest in the stock market. Students will use the Internet to research stocks and will also learn to read graphs and tables. Once we learn the basics, we will compete in investing competitions against other students from schools all over the United States!! Activities include – Who Owns the World? How do I buy a stock? What is the Stock Market? How can I set up and track my portfolio? Stock Competitions!

Student Organization (S.O.) Mr. Fisher & Mr. Vetrano
The Student organization gives the 6th graders a chance to present the views and needs of their friends and it provides them with a resource of help and friendship from the older students. In the Fall, elections are held for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Homeroom representatives and alternates are elected in September. The S.O. is a policy making body, and together with the administration, helps to decide on a variety of school activities and programs. (Example: canteens, dances, school environment and other student concerns.)

Yearbook Club Mr. Jackson
Yearbook Club is open to sixth, seventh and eighth graders who would like to be involved in the production of the yearbook. Sixth graders participate in taking photographs, making collages, and identifying classmates in the group pictures.

Serious Ink Mrs. Lynch Serious Ink is the school’s literary magazine. We publish all types of student writing and artwork. We meet 1 -2 times a week, starting in January, and explore many aspects of publishing. All students are welcome and encouraged to join!

Art Club Mr. Gioacchini (Room 201) Every other Wednesday
Each month we will explore various art-making techniques, from drawing and painting, to sculpture, to computer art and design! Students who choose to participate in Art Club will have the opportunity to learn new art techniques and develop the skills they already possess in a relaxed and fun environment with other students who share their interest in art! Some of this year’s Art Club project could include: Clay Pottery Watercolor and Acrylic Paintings Comic Book Art and Design Paper/Tape Sculptures …and even painting murals on the Art Room Walls!

Garden Club: Mrs. Swertfager, Mrs. Deegan & Mrs
Garden Club: Mrs. Swertfager, Mrs. Deegan & Mrs. Spano Lunch and after school We meet weather permitting in the fall and the spring. The days vary from Monday through Thursday. We have had over 300 children help in the Memorial garden and its ceremony as well as the Flag Project and front entrance. Thanks to the PTA and the donations of Entergy Grants we have been able to add to our gardens each year. A labor of love for all.

Drama Club Mrs. Simon Wednesdays (Starting in October)
Students will learn different aspects of theater craft, read/study plays, and prepare a production for a performance in May.

Workout Room Mr. Iseman & Mrs. Delvecchio
Girls meet Monday & Wednesday Boys meet Tuesday & Thursday You may come to one meeting or every meeting. Track your workouts and learn to use the equipment

Dance Club Mrs. Heffler and Mrs. LaVecchia
Dance Club will give students the opportunity to Learn, Create, Participate and Share Learn the basics of choreography Create dance routines Participate with schoolmates in a fun activity Share ideas and talent The club meets in the auditorium every other Thursday

Digital Video Club Mrs. Simon Tuesdays &/or Thursdays – starting mid Oct.
This club is for students who have a creative idea for a “broadcast show,” want to learn the technology to create a multi-media video, and use the BMMS Broadcast Studio to make the “show” a reality.
