2 Giraffe Features Giraffes are the tallest animals.
There are seven bones in their long necks, and the same in ours. Males grow up to about 5 ½ meters tall, and females grow up to 5 meters tall. They have horns called ossicones. There horns are covered by horns. No two Giraffes have the same skin pattern. Every one of the 9 sub-species have a different coat pattern. The tongue of an adult giraffe measures 27". 3 Giraffe Facts The scientific name for Giraffes are "Camelopardalis.“
Giraffes sleep for less than 30 minutes in 24 hours. Neck wrestling matches are often held to show power in their herds (the groups of Giraffes). An male Giraffe is called a bull, a female is called a cow, and a young giraffe a calf. Giraffe live about 20 to 25 years. A adult male Giraffe can eat up to 100 pounds of food in one day. Lions and Hyenas are Giraffes’ enemies, but A lion could die if it is kicked by a giraffe.
