Each city-state was isolated, and so city-states were very different and fought each other a lot.

Greek people adapted to their environment by creating terrace farms.
This made it possible to farm on mountains.

5. The Sea
The Mediterranean Sea had a huge impact on the way city-states developed.
People used the sea for trade, travel, and food.
Greek city-states developed navies to use in war.

6. The Climate
The weather in Greece is very nice. This contributed to an outdoor lifestyle.
