How can I ensure students use a range of fabrics? Firstly, bring in handling box into school including a range of resources such as: fabrics, fastenings (zips, buttons, ect), threads, yarns, sequins and beads for the children to feel and gain a basic understanding onto the vast amount of resources used in textiles.

6 How can they take into account their properties?
A simple yet effective way to see fabrics properties is too look at them under a microscope. This allows them to distinguish whether the fabric is woven, knitted, or a jersey style fabric. They can also tell if the fabric is synthetic or made from natural fibres. Different types of microscopes used for fabrics : Handheld Microscope USB Digital Microscope
