1 Young people in European forests
Forestfireprotection Young people in European forests

2 In our presentation we will touch such issues as:
The factors leading to forest fire Fire-figthing devices The code of behaviour in forest

3 What we understand by the notion of fire threat of the forest is possibility of existence of such conditions which can lead to cause a fire. The major factors that influence the fire threat of the forest are: a) Meteorological conditions like: temperature of the air, relative air humidity, rainfalls, cloudiness and the sun radiation; b) Humidity of the soil layer especially its dead components, the humidity is influenced by meteorogical conditions; c) Possibility of exsistence of external factors which can lead to initiate the fire(for example bonefire, burning cigarette end, burning match).

4 On April 8th our team went to the nearest forest In Dąbrówki to seek a forester’s opinion about fire-fighting protection of polish forests.

5 One of the methods of forest fire protection are firebreaks
One of the methods of forest fire protection are firebreaks. These are adequately prepared and developed forest areas, which prevent fire spreading. Firebreaks also expedite firefighting action in the case of forest fire.

6 One of major method of prevent forest fire in wooded land is a watchtower. It helps foresters to see the potential threat on time.

7 The next firefighting protection of forests is water reservoir needed in the case of fire.

8 The natural method of firefighting protect of forest are mosses, which store a lot of water and prevent of fire spreading!

9 We also visited the forestry management in Leżajsk to find out how properly test the humidity of forest litter to assessment the risk of fire outbreak. Our team!

10 Testing the humidity of forest litter
After turning on the moisture analyzer place about 1g of forest litter on it. The forest litter starts drying up in temperature 110°C and we got the results in a few minutes.

11 We compare the results obtained with figures from tables and assess the fire threat.

12 There is a meteorological station next to the forestry management building, where the amount of precipitation and temperature is measured.

13 The code of forest behaviour against fire.
Do not throw empty glass bottles away in forest! The code of forest behaviour against fire.

14 Do not abandon flammable things in forest such as matches, burning cigarette end etc.
