Controls & Monitoring MICE is a precision experiment Guiding principle: control, or at least measure, systematic uncertainties Monitoring must be performed on all parameters affecting data quality: Example – ToF system has 50ps resolution DT -> cable expansion -> cable inductance -> time error Pierrick M. MICE State Machines Several Considerations: Subsystem C&M developed by different collaborators Must be integrated to ensure safe use of resources and operations MICE operates in different states over differing time periods: Shutdown/Installation Sleep (occasionally over weekends) Testing Data taking Pierrick M.
