3.2 Parallel lines and transversals
2
Things to remember A transversal cuts across two or more lines at unique points We will be looking at corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior and consecutive angles
3
Corresponding angles postulate
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then their corresponding angles are congruent
4
Alternate interior angles theorem
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then their alternate interior angles are congruent
5
Alternate exterior angles theorem
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then their alternate exterior angles are congruent
6
Consecutive angles If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then their consecutive angles will be supplementary
7
Review If lines are parallel and cut by a transversal the following is true Alternate interior, alternate exterior, and corresponding angles are congruent Consecutive angles are supplementary
8
How do we find X?
9
If the lines are parallel, how do we find X?
10
How do we find X ?
11
How do we find X ?
12
If line AF is parallel to the segment CB, which angles are congruent?
13
Can I prove that all triangles have 180 as the sum of their angles with this information?
M<FAC + m<CAB + m<EAB = and m<C + m<CAB +m<B = 180
