2 What is Participative Leadership?
Participative leadership involves all members of the team to be part of the creative and strategic process The leader can often be considered more of a “facilitator” yet the final decision is still his responsibility Assumes that everyone is committed to the same cause Creativity and engagement is encouraged

3 History of Participative Leadership
Coined by Psychologist Kurt Lewin in a research study His study of Participate Leadership in children showed.. Less productivity Higher quality contributions

4 Benefits of Participative Leadership
It can create a variety of different and unique ideas due to the engagement of team members Group members feel involved and invested Group involvement in decision making allows for deeper understanding on all levels and the effects that the decision has (well rounded decisions)

5 Downsides of Participative Leadership
Some people do better with more direction and structure Possibly be more time consuming The entire group might not be equally committed to the goal, therefore there might be a few carrying dead weight The loud might over shadow the quiet
