The Process Of Applying: Release of Records “Pink Sheets” (Application Tracking Form) 1 per college applying to, submitted to counselor in order for documentation to be sent How to submit applications online (either through the Common Application, SUNY website or individual college website) or Sign on to Naviance/Family Connection Account connection.naviance.com/centereach Tutorials on navigating through your child’s Naviance account, including how to request letters of recommendation AND how to match his/her account with the Common Application:

Process of Applying Via The Common App
Register for the Common Application ( To Begin, Everyone MUST: complete the EDUCATION section Add at least one college to the MY COLLEGES section Sign the FERPA waiver

*College Rep Visits and On-Site Admissions at Centereach High School*
Please refer to your child’s Naviance account to view upcoming visits and on-site admissions opportunities from various colleges Click on “Colleges” and “Upcoming College Visits” to view the dates and times Click on “Sign Up” to meet with the representative All sign-ups for these opportunities will be in the West Suite; where the appointments & visits will also take place. Mini College Day (for students) ~ November 3, 2016

* SAT / ACT * Be aware of upcoming deadlines & new procedures
Register early! (No walk-ins accepted anymore!) Upload of photo is required when registering Students must send SAT/ACT scores to each college directly through the testing website:

SAT Score Conversion Go to then search “Score Converter” Scroll down to “New SAT to Old SAT” Recommended that you convert scores taken from March 2016-present Ex: 5/2016: R/W 550 / MA 510 = 1060 Section Scores = R-28 / Wr-27 / Ma–25.5 Converted Score = 990 out of 1060

*NEW* ~ FAFSA form should be filled out online beginning October 1, 2016 FAFSA Overview and FAFSA 4CASTER Attend our Financial Aid Night November 7, 2016 at NHS View the “Scholarship”’ tab on the guidance webpage National Scholarships are posted under the “Colleges” tab in Naviance Local scholarship information given to seniors in February

Request teacher recommendations Complete NCAA eligibility (if applicable) Send SAT/ACT scores Submit applications Fill out and sign a “pink form” for each school & submit to your counselor!

And Lastly… DON’T PANIC!
Reassure your child that if you start early & complete one task at at time, the process is manageable!
