4 Unified Virtual & Physical Monitoring
ER-SPAN This phase relies on virtual switch port mirroring / SPAN – it will support ONLY environments with virtual switch (usually distributed) with SPAN/Mirror functionality. Green line: Encapsulated traffic, Blue line raw packets (from wired networks and post decapsulation on IntellaStore II)

5 ER-SPAN Decapsulation
This phase relies on virtual switch port mirroring / SPAN Green line: Encapsulated traffic, Blue line raw packets (from wired networks and post decapsulation on IntellaStore II)

6 Virtual Network Monitoring – Phase 2-3
Specific to linguistics here: Instead of xxx Auto vTap I’d write something like integrated/intelligent management framework. Maybe TIMF (Titan Integrated Management Framework)? or something like that. I think “auto” is not an optimal representation of the API integration we are planning. KVM should now be OpenStack (this is the platform we’ll most likely focus on based on current customer feedback). There are too many KVM management platforms so we should name the one we are going to work with. Lastly, in the later phases we are going to be an independent layer (not using the vSwitch) so we should represent the “insert” as a thin line between the Os and the virtual switch. ER-SPAN ER-SPAN
