Procedure Mass 2.00 grams of the copper(II) chloride Dissolve in the copper(II) chloride in 50 mL of distilled water with stirring and heat on a hot plate until almost boiling TURN OFF HOT PLATE Mass a piece of aluminum metal Bend the metal in a curve to fit into the beaker Gently place the metal in the hot copper(II) chloride solution

2 Keep the aluminum in the beaker until the reaction is complete and the solution is no longer blue (stirring will speed up the process)& no longer bubbling Mass a piece of dry filter paper Set up the filter apparatus and collect the copper Rinse the copper TWICE with distilled water Set the filter paper AND aluminum metal on a watch glass to dry overnight Mass the dry copper and aluminum metal the next day
