Cellular Respiration Must Knows
Summerize how ATP is created from GLUCOSE. P _____ Explain the role of FERMENTATION. P_____ Describe the role of OXYGEN in AEROBIC RESPIRATION P____

Opener 3/8/2010 COPY THIS DOWN! 1)Predict how exercise will affect your body’s production of carbon dioxide._________________________________________________ 2) Label 2 test tubes A and B. Put 10 mil of water and 3 drops of BTB solution in each test tube. After you insert the straw cover top with cotton. 3) One partner is going to be test subject, one partner is recorder. When you partner says “Go!” slowly blow air through a straw into the bottom of the test tube. Do not blow hard or you will overflow your test tube. 4) When the solution changes color, your partner should say “Stop!” and then record how long the color change took. 5) Jog in place for 1 minute and repeat steps 3 and 4 using test tube B
4
Cellular Respiration P___
What organic compound is your body’s main source of energy???? How does your body get energy? What does your body do with extra energy? What happened when there is no energy?
5
Respiration Race Student A is not going to run in place
Student B is going to run in place for 1 minute Who’s test tube will change color first?????
6
Energy in Living Systems
List as MANY forms of ENERGY as you can!
7
Flow of Energy Through a System
Do you recall METABOLISM???? Metabolism is the sum of ALL chemical processes in an organism! Organisms are classified in two categories. They create their OWN energy They have to EAT to gain energy
8
Autotrophs & Heterotrophs
Create their OWN energy Most create energy from sunlight, some can create energy from INORGANIC chemicals Heterotrophs Have to EAT to get their energy Must create energy through CELLULAR RESPIRATION
9
Opener 3/8/2010 How does your body get energy from energy? Explain
10
Cellular Respiration Energy Where does your body get energy????
Are there better sources for energy? Explain!
12
ATP ATP releases energy by breaking a phosphate group and becoming ADP.
13
What is ATP? How does it work?
ATP is ENERGY for the cell It is created from GLUCOSE

Cellular Respiration Definitions to know:
ATP – Adenosine TRI Phosphate - Energy ADP – Adenosine DI Phosphate – Used Energy ATP turns into ADP when releasing energy NADH – Electron Carrier, transports electrons to the electron transport chain
16
Opener – P. Find a 3 people in the room and share your article with them. You also need to listen to theirs! Then write a 8-10 sentence summary on the 3 articles you hear. (3 sentences per article?)

Glycolosis Glucose 2 Pyruvic acid Pyruvic Acid then goes into AEROBIC or ANAEROBIC respiration!
19
Lactic Acid Production - ANEROBIC
Glucose Pyruvic acid Without oxygen LACTIC ACID PRODUCTION only fuels glycolosis

Photosynthesis Questions
What are products? Reactants? List the Products and Reactants in Cell Respiration. What is the function of Photosynthesis What does it use? Make?

Cellular Respiration Lab
We are going to run an experiment based on what we learned about cellular respiration. Problem Research Hypothesis
27
Experiment Data Conclusion
Compare what you learned about Aerobic and Anaerobic respiration. How could we of changed the experiement. Time Without Warm-up Time With Warm-up 3:00 minutes 9:06 minutes

Article Annotate the Article. What’s the main idea?
While reading the article generate 6 questions that come to your mind.
