What is Title I? Stockbridge Middle is identified as a Title I school as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parent and family engagement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with all parents a written parent and family engagement plan.

Why is SMS a Title I school?
School-wide Title I provides additional funding support which allows for: Additional Classroom Resources Instructional Lead Teacher Resource Teacher for Math and Literacy Technology Appropriations Family Resource Center Parent and Family Engagement Activities

Parents Right to Know Teachers and Paraprofessional
Whether the student’s teacher – has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing have been waived; is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Stockbridge Middle School Beliefs and Mission Beliefs: All students have the ability to learn, we are here to help them find their path to success. Mission: Building a Bridge to a Better Tomorrow… One Student at a Time Vision The vision of Stockbridge Middle School is for all stakeholders to be committed to cultivating all students by providing a nurturing and safe environment that fosters a rigorous academic curriculum that will prepare students to become productive citizens and leaders in society. Goals At the end of the school year, we will show progressive growth at each administration of the MAP assessment and 3% growth on the final testing date in Math. At the end of the school year, we will show progressive growth at each administration of the MAP assessment and 3% growth on the final testing date in Reading Guiding Philosophy With the implementation of personalized learning, the dedicated commitment to closing students’ gaps in learning by providing interventions in specific areas of need and progress monitoring student interventions while increasing the rigor in the academic setting, we will be able to help each student achieve personal academic goals.

Title I Budget Provides:
Books and materials for both students and teachers. Purchase of technology and other resources. 1% is used for Parent and Family Engagement Items for the Parent Resource center that can be used at home to support student academics. Parent workshops Translators for Family Nights

What is the Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan?
The Parent and Family Engagement plan describes how SMS will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. Parent workshops Family Nights (Curriculum, Math, Multicultural, & Test Prep) Parent Resource Center Communication: newsletters, agendas, conferences, website, marquee, , homework folders and special announcements.

Draft – Parent and Family Engagement Plan, School-Parent Compact, Title I Budget, School- Wide Improvement Plan and building Staff capacity was presented at the SMS Parent Input Meeting on September1th. The Revised/ Final Parent and Family Engagement Plan, Compact and School-wide Improvement Plan are available today. All parents must return the signature page indicating they have received the revised copy of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and Compact.

What is the Title 1 School-Parent Compact?
The compact provides a detailed description of how students, parents, and the school will WORK TOGETHER in order to ensure ACADEMIC SUCCESS for each student! Responsibilities of school, student, and parents

School-Parent Compact
The Compact is a “Living Document” that will be reviewed throughout the year and revised to meet individual student needs. The Revised School Parent Compact is available tonight. We are required to have a signed School-Parent Compact for EVERY student.
