8 Vancouver Calgary Thunder Bay Toronto Ottawa Montreal Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is the centre of technology and culture. Its city landmark is the parliament building. The winter of Ottawa is very cold and lasts for a long time. So it is well-known as “City of Ice Ball”. Toronto, the biggest and most wealthy city in Canada, is also the business and educational centre. The CN Tower was the world’s tallest free-standing structure on land from 1975 until 2007. As Canada’s most beautiful city, Vancouver is surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. You can both ski in the mountains and sail in the harbour, which make it the most popular city. Montreal is a French-speaking city along the broad St. Lawrence River. There you can find French culture and traditions. People in Montreal love coffee, good bread and music. Calgary is famous for its Stampede, the winners of which can gain thousands of dollars in prize. Every year, cowboys who have a gift for riding wild horses are attracted by its bonuses. Most Canadians live within a few kilometres of the USA border, and Canada is quite an empty country with many places left in wildness. Thunder Bay, a busy port city, lies at the top of the Great Lakes, where you can see many ocean ships.
