Electric field gradient and electric charge density
This is 5-parameter second order tensor field in the 3D Euclidean space parameterized below by using spherical coordinates. Electric field gradient (EFG) is traceless and symmetric tensor. It vanishes for cubic or higher charge symmetry. It has axial symmetry for three-fold or four-fold axis going through the point in question.
