Headline The headline will normally be bold and will be one of the main focus points of the spread. Placed below or on the picture to show a close link with the main image. Deck Not all articles have a deck but most do. They are commonly used in order to provide more information about the text than the hed. Art It doesn’t matter if it’s a photo, graphic or an illustration. For a film review this feature is normally linked closely with the text and has been taken out the film to give an insight to what the films about. It will be the main focal point of the spread and will be what draws the attention of the reader to it, this means that it has to be eye grabbing and original to other spreads. There is normally a box before the text which will highlight important information about the film, such as the director, cast, certificate etc. Caption The caption is normally placed on the photo, it is used in order to help make the image meaningful to the reader. Lead The lead usually comes before the text, and is written in order to engage the reader to the text. It is small however, provides more information about the film compared to the deck. Byline The byline is simple, it shows who wrote the article and is usually printed above the text. Quotes are a common convention of double age spreads, and in the case of a film review, it is normally off of a director, one of the cast or sometimes a quote from a review of the film. Folio Folio are typical for double page spreads, it is more than a page number and usually contains the magazines name and issue date. There will commonly be a overview of the film, and a star rating at the bottom.
