1 Sponsorship Opportunities
Team Atlantic Albatross | 2017 | In Partnership with Fullbrook School

2 Welcome from Team Atlantic Albatross
Dear Potential Sponsor, More people have climbed Mount Everest or gone into space than have taken on the challenge of crossing the Atlantic in a rowing boat. Even fewer have done so with the backing and support of a secondary school! The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is recognised as one of the toughest races and endurance events and we are hoping to support two rowers to complete the challenge in record time and raise a combined total of £100,000 for our two chosen charities, Eikon and the RAF Benevolent Fund. Attracting sponsors is a vital part of our campaign to ensure that we achieve our first goal – getting to the start line! We are a dedicated community of young people working together to support team Atlantic Albatross and we really hope that after reading this document you will be interested in joining our ocean adventure and thank you for your interest. Yours sincerely, Reuben Cruise (Age 11) Sponsorship Team

3 We need your help to….. Support our charities Inspire our communities
Create opportunities for our students Achieve personal goals

4 THE TALISKER WHISKY ATLANTIC CHALLENGE
One race, one boat, 2 rowers Rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic East to West Completely unsupported once the race starts Rowing 2 hours on then 2 hours off for 24 hours a day Goal of finishing in under 60 days and raising £100,000 for charity Summarize your research in three to five points.

5 Welcome from Team Atlantic Albatross
The race began from the inspiring thoughts and plans that Sir Chay Blyth had whilst he was rowing the Atlantic Ocean in 1966 with John Ridgeway. It was 92 days of a battle against hurricanes, 50ft waves and a near starvation diet. It’s no surprise then that more people have been into space, or climbed Everest than have rowed the Atlantic. It takes a certain kind of person to keep going when faced with blisters, salt rash, sharks and sleep deprivation. That’s why the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is one of the toughest races on earth. We will aim to support two rowers to cover more than 3,000 nautical miles across the world’s second largest ocean, the Atlantic. They will head west from San Sebastian in La Gomera (a famous stopping location for Christopher Columbus) finishing in Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour in Antigua. Once they leave the safety of the harbour they’ll be on their own, on the vast ocean and at the mercy of the elements. Our aim is share the adventures of an ocean crossing with a community of support from Fullbrook School. The mental and physical endurance will result in a life changing achievement and we welcome you to share in our journey and progress and all in aid of two fantastic cause, The Eikon Charity and The RAF Benevolent Fund.

13 Lizzie grew up in Aldershot, the youngest daughter of an RAF aviation medical officer. She first learned to row while studying mathematics at Worcester College, Oxford and returned to the sport following a 20 year hiatus when she moved to Walton on Thames 3 years ago. Inspired by hearing the stories of other ocean rowers, she enlisted the help of the students at Fullbrook Secondary School to turn her dream into a reality and to raise money for such worthy causes along the way. She has never attempted an adventure of this magnitude before and is excited by the challenge! ‘I have even less navigational skills than Dave but at least I know which end of an oar goes in the water.’ Lizzie Gill This is the question that your experiment answers Maths Teacher at Fullbrook School in Surrey

14 Dave Goodey David grew up near to Portsmouth but having joined the
Royal Air Force as a navigator has moved regularly with the service. He has always enjoyed sports and over the last few years, he has focused in particular on endurance events such as ultra-running and Ironman triathlons, relishing the physical and mental challenge associated with such events. When Lizzie got down to his name after exhausting the long list of preferred rowing partners, this seemed like a genuine opportunity for an adventure and too good to miss. ‘I have no nautical or rowing experience and do not fully understand how I came to be involved in this caper but I’ve never grown a full beard so bring on the challenge.’ Dave Goodey This is the question that your experiment answers RAF Navigator currently based in Nova Scotia, Canada
