The throat styles for shoes with laces are (A) Blucher, (B) Bal or Balmoral, and (C) “open-to-the-toe” or surgical. Blucher shoes are preferred for use with most orthoses because they are easier to don and doff with an appliance and offer greater adaptability to accommodate foot volume changes.
