Solar Panels Monocrystalline Selected ~1.5kW-2kW in panels
Cost between Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline is similar Monocrystalline is smaller in area for same power ratings Monocrystalline slightly more efficient (~1%) with shading ~1.5kW-2kW in panels Need to satisfy 120VAC, 60Hz, 15A receptacle requirements Put panels in series to increase voltage Must satisfy voltage input range to inverter (different requirements for micro and central inverters)
3
EnPhase Brand Microinverters
Pros More flexibility. Inverters can be added/subtracted via a bus cord to make system larger or smaller. If one inverter goes out, power will still be generated. Capable of web-based system and smartphone apps. Better performance under shading conditions. Cons Must be grid-tied. Output of 208VAC or 240VAC. Would need a step-down transformer for 120VAC?
4
Net-metering Net-metering is possible in KY.
What to do with excess power generated since batteries are not being implemented this semester? Contact LG&E to receive credit on energy returned to the grid?

Concerns Budget Grid -tied concerns for Enphase
