 1. This project is based upon the belief that all employees have a role to play in safeguarding our most vulnerable citizens within our communities, their families and as colleagues to other staff.
2. A belief that early intervention not only brings benefits to the children and adults that we work with but is also the most effective and efficient way of delivering services.
A ‘Think Family’ approach is absolutely critical when delivering services in particular when considering safeguarding issues/concerns. It also challenges silo thinking around the delivery of services.

Equip all staff with the knowledge required to know what to do to keep children, young people and vulnerable adults safe. Ensure publicity is available in respect of what to do if you have concerns about a child, young person or vulnerable adult at all public access points in NCC and NCH. Ensure safe recruitment policies and procedures are implemented consistently across all City Council Departments Equip all line managers within the Council with the skills and knowledge to respond to allegations made by and about NCC and NCH employees appropriately Ensure the programme is linked to the central HR training programme. Review the corporate induction process to incorporate safeguarding issues
