What does your airport mean to your Community?
4
……depends on who you ask!
A source of high paying jobs Reliable transportation An economic catalyst OR We have an airport? Noise, pollution, drain on local resources
5
Aviation in the US is a $1 trillion industry!
GA - $77 billion ,500 jobs CS - $933 billion – 9.3 million jobs
6
ODOT asked this question for Ohio
Followed an FAA-approved methodology Collected “Real” data from each airport Updated 1994 information Provides each airport with usable information to “Get the Word Out”
7
Economic Impact Study Process
Direct impacts – On-airport Indirect impacts – Visitors Multiplier impacts Health, welfare, & safety
8
Economic Impact- Ohio’s System
OHIO AIRPORTS CREATE: Air Carrier Airports General Aviation Airports All System Airports Total Employment 125,500 17,350 142,800 Total Payroll $2.7 billion $0.5 billion $3.2 billion Total Economic Impact $8.8 billion $1.7 billion $10.5 billion Impact in $7.4 billion ( 42% increase)

Ohio’s Ability to Serve VLJs
In general, Ohio’s airports are well suited to serve VLJ Relatively low acquisition/operating costs 4 to 6 seat jet aircraft 93 airports - > 3,500’ rwy 66 airports offer Jet A 90% airports offer instrument approach
22
System Costs vs. Benefits
$117 million in capital projects needed to meet GA airports’ existing system facility objectives Local planning needs not included General aviation creates impacts of $1.7 billion annually Federal funding for GA is approximately $31 million annually
23
Ohio State Airport System gives more than it gets!
Conclusions Ohio State Airport System gives more than it gets! $10.5 billion in economic impact Airport system provides outstanding coverage Moderate growth is forecast $117 million in investments are needed to enhance existing system
