Aims of the study We analyzed 26 illicit drugs and pharmaceuticals in wastewater during seven Slovak and Czech music festivals The number of monitored participants was over Monitoring involved 7 specific music genre festivals - metal, rock, pop, country, folk, dance, trance Comparison of illicit drugs consumption in relation to the specific music genres

Monitoring of drugs and psychoactive substances in wastewater
allows one to monitor drug utilization in dependence on time (weeks, months, years) determine drugs consumption trends, compare quite accurately drugs usage among individual cities, regions, and countries or in relation to the specific music genres

Sampling and analysis Sampling - 24-hour composite samples from three Slovak and two Czech waste water treatment plants (WWTPs) were collected Analyzed were 26 psychoactive compounds, illicit drugs and their metabolites with LC – MS/MS method

Results Results – reported in mg/d per 1000 inhabitants (load)
The most dominant drug was methamphetamine The most significant relationship between illicit drug use and music genre - stimulants (ecstasy, cocaine) during the dance music festival

Conclusions In the study, we monitored 26 psychoactive compounds in wastewater from 5 cities during the 7 different music genres festivals Dominant used illicit drug was methamphetamine Significant relationship between drug use and musical genre was in the case of stimulants (ecstasy, cocaine) use - dance music festival
