2 AIMS & OBJECTIVES By the end of this session all students will be able to:- Explain purpose of job advertisement. Identify aims of a job advert. Describe mandatory content of job advert. Identify content to avoid.

3 Aim & Purpose of Job Advertisement
The aim of the job advert is to attract interest, communicate quickly and clearly the essential elements of the position and to provide clear instructions on how to apply. To inform perspective candidates with the basic of information from job description and person specification that are vital for the candidate.

4 Mandatory Content Company Name Contact Name
Full Address, including PostCode & Phone contact Job Title Salary (exact or guide), Hours, Rates Closing Date (time if applicable) Location Outline of job roles and responsibilities (from Job Description) Outline of ideal candidate (from Person Specification). Details of qualifications, experience and skills (from Person Specification)

5 What to Avoid Capital letters (upper-case)
Coded and eccentric communications Too much technical detail about the job or the company Too many words - keep it simple (150 for this task) Uninspiring descriptions of roles and ideal candidates Too much emphasis on the job and not enough on the person.

6 Task 5 Produce a Job Advertisement to be placed in the local newspaper for the post of Personal Assistance to the General Manager. NOTES The job advertisement should only include relevant information in order to attract suitable applicants and information about the recruitment process (e.g. how to obtain further information, closing date/time, how to apply:-CV, Covering Letter, Application Form, etc…) Your advertisement MUST be in excess of 150 words.
