2. LESSON 667: ISRAEL DEMANDS JUSTICE FROM GIBEAH
MEMORY VERSE:
“Now therefore deliver us the man, The children of Belia, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel’’ (Judges 20:13)

3. SUMMARY (1) Our previous study focused on perversion in Gibeah:
Christian parents should rebuke sin in their children.
Believers should readily forgive and reconcile with their offenders.
You should rely solely on God’s leading; knowledge and experience alone may fail you.
Like any other sin, God condemns homosexuality and lesbianism though society may allow it.
The study of today touches on three points:
The deed of wickedness rehearsed
The determination to avenge the wicked Act
The defence of criminals by the Benjamites

4. SUMMARY (2) The deed of wickedness rehearsed (Judges 20:1-7):
To ensure fairness in judgement, Israel decided to listen to both parties involved.
We must act promptly and follow due process to ensure that justice is administered in the Church or elsewhere.
The determination to avenge the wicked act (Judges 20:8-11):
The Israelites were united in the battle against lewdness in the land, even to the point of risking their own lives. Their demand for the justice was fair and just.
Christ’s servants must also have right motives as they deal with sin in the Church.
The defence of criminals by the Benjamites (Judges 20:12-17):
The Benjamites refused the call for justice and mobilised for war in defence of evil.
Christians should speak out against evil in the Church to avoid God’s displeasure

Whenever rebuked or challenged over wrong deed, believers should humble themselves and repent to avoid destruction.
