What is Student Council?
Representative structure for students that allows students to benefit the school by— becoming involved in shaping school policy, promoting activities, and addressing needs working in partnership with school management, staff and parents engaging in service related activities.

Office Responsibilities are similar except for . . .
The student council serves all grades The student council president also serves as student body president

Who votes in this election?
Freshmen vote for Student Body officers only, today. Sophomores and Juniors vote for both their class officers and Student Body officers.

Ratifying Unopposed Candidates
To ratify a candidate means to approve them to hold the office. According to the student government constitution, candidates who are running unopposed, must be “ratified” by the voters.

To Ratify Candidates Simply click the box by each of their names. The voting directions will prompt you.

What is the role of Class Officers?
Class Officers are ranking members of Student Council and represent and serve their grade-level classes by: Planning social events such as homecoming festivities, dances, prom, project graduation Fostering positive relationships with other local high school campuses Representing their class at various academic, social, civic, and student-related programs. Serving as leading members of student council

General Office Responsibilities

Historian/Publicist Documents and records activities for in order to provide continuity from year to year. Serves as publicist in some cases Sets example for all students to follow

Coordinates maintenance of website
Serves as liaison between school and local publications regarding publicity of events and by preparing press releases Keeps student body informed via posters, announcements, etc. Sets example for all students to follow

Secretary Treasurer Keeps accurate meeting records
Records attendance at all meetings Maintains up-to-date membership directories as appropriate Oversees publication of minutes Treasurer Oversees moneys collected Prepares financial reports Other duties as assigned by President

Vice President Presides over meetings in absence of President
Records and files all committee and project reports Maintains calendar of events Coordinates social events Sets example for students to follow

President Prepares agenda Coordinates all activities
Makes committee appointments Assumes duties assigned by principal or sponsor Sets example for students to follow
