1 John 1:1-18 In the beginning…

2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

3 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

4 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

5 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”

6 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten God, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.

7 John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 20:31 These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

8 John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus Is God 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

9 John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus Is God 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus is Eternal 2 He was with God in the beginning.

10 John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus is Uncreated
John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus Is God 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus is Eternal 2 He was with God in the beginning. John’s Gospel proclaims Jesus is Uncreated 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

11 Jesus proclaims He Is God John 5: Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God 25 I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live 39-40 These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life

12 Jesus proclaims He Is God
John 6:35,41 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life… At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 8: “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. 10:30-31 I and the Father are one.” Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him

13 Jesus Is Eternal, Uncreated God… So What?
:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. :5, 9 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it… The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. :12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God :18 No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten God, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.

14 Jesus Is Eternal, Uncreated God… So What?
Ex 20:3 You shall have no other gods besides me.

15 Then God Became Man 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

16 Then God Became Man 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. John 4:6 ‘Jesus, tired as he was from the journey’

17 Then God Became Man 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. God Became Man In Jesus Christ 17 For the law was given through Moses;  grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

18 God Became Man… So What? Heb 2:14,17 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death… For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way… Gal 4:4-5 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship

19 God Became Man… So What? Heb 2:18, 4:15 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted… For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet he did not sin.

20 Christmas: Jesus Is, Was, and Always Will Be Fully God 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus Became Fully Human 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
