EQ: What are the effects of hallucinogens and the dangers of using them?

Marijuana Marijuana is the dried flowers and leaves of the Cannabis plant. Has more than 200 slang names some are: pot, grass, weed, green, and Mary Jane. *Can be taken many different ways, but most common is smoked and eaten. *Active chemical ( what makes people High) is THC. Affects can be different for people. Some may feel relaxed, happy, severe panic attacks, unable to move. Many people who use marijuana have a difficult time concentrating, are not motivated and do poorly in school.

Hallucinogens Drug that causes a person to sense things that don’t actually exist. LSD, magic mushrooms, peyote, PCP. A person may feel many emotions at once. Mood swings Fear/panic Long-term effect-flashbacks (sudden reliving of a hallucinogen experience),months or years later.

Inhalants inhaled directly into lungs not smoked
household cleaning supplies, paint, markers, canned air, helium, gasoline. Replaces oxygen immediate death, coma, or brain damage. High is very short lived.
