Types of Government . Style of gov’t that the countries are using.
Monarchy- kings and queens, monarchs usually come to power through their family line. Oligarchy- most political power is held by a small group in a society, usually the wealthy. Direct Democracy- Citizens are directly involved in the day-to-day work of governing the country, there are no representatives to do the job for them. Representative Democracy- citizens elect leaders to represent their rights and interests in government. The elected leaders, or representatives, do the day-to-day work of governing the country Based on the chart, what are the advantages and disadvantages of an oligarchy and a representative democracy?

Types of Government- Style of government that the countries are using.
Socialism- The government directs the completion of its economic plans in key services (like healthcare). Basic production systems are government owned, operated, and shared equally with the people. Communism- governments own all productive resources (land and goods) and make all the major decisions. Communist governments often use force to protect their power. Autocracy (Absolute Monarchy)- gov’t where one person has unlimited power. Examples are dictatorships & absolute monarchies. Based on the chart, what are the some similarities and differences of Socialism and Communism?

Systems of Government- How power is distributed within the countries.
Federal- a system of government where power is shared between a central government and states. Political leaders are elected by the people through voting. Parliamentary- a system of government where power lies with the legislative body and the leader of the country is part of the legislature. Citizens choose which political party is in power and then that party chooses who the leader is. Unitary- a system of government where almost all power is located with the central government Confederal- (also called a confederation) a system of government where power is located with the independent states and there is little power in the central government.
