AIM: How do we draw contour lines? DO NOW In your notebooks answer the following questions. When looking at a contour map; How can you tell which direction the a river is flowing on a contour map? Which side of a mountain is steeper? What do isolines connect?

3 II. Rules for Drawing Contour Lines
Use the contour interval to create the lines. Find and circle all the points you are going to connect. Contour lines move in between the values where they exist. 4. Contour lines don’t cross each other 5. Contour lines close on themselves (to make circles) or go to the edge of the map (to make lines).
