Cambridge ESOL exam speaking criteria: Being accurate and appropriate in their use of English, which involves intelligible pronunciation, grammatical and lexical correctness, and using language which fits the context and purpose for speaking. Being fluent, which involves the ability to keep talk flowing smoothly without undue hesitations, and in a coherent fashion, so that the listener can follow the train of thought.
