49 New Work Items

50 New Work Items and study items
Study on GSM DMO (SI) WI on Support for CAT service (WI) WID for network selection for I-WLAN (WI) Study on Supplementary Service for Short Message Service (SMS-SS) (SI) Simultaneous access to multiple networks (SI) WID for proposed study for incorporation of non 3GPP networks selection (SI) (WI = Work Item, SI = Study Item) Add padding to balance the slide

51 Study on GSM Direct Mode of Operation
GSM Direct Mode Operation (DMO) allows mobile-to-mobile radio communications of a predefined group of DMO service subscribers in half duplex mode without the help of any ground infrastructure using the GSM technology. The objectives of this WID are to identify the requirements of GSM-DMO that apply to 3GPP specifications as well as the impact of introducing GSM-DMO in the 3GPP system. New!

52 WI on Support for CAT service
The objective of this work item is to make the technical specification for requirements that need to be standardized for CAT, especially additional features of CAT. Multiple domains roaming/interworking and interaction with other services such as IMS based services (e.g. MITe), Supplementary Services, Charging and User profile will be specified as well, based on the study on Customized Alerting Tone Requirements (TR ). New!

53 WID for network selection for I-WLAN
The objective of this WI is to integrate requirements for the selection of I-WLAN access into the existing PLMN network selection mechanisms and define these in one specification. The changes agreed for PLMN network selection will therefore apply to I- WLAN also New!

54 Study on Supplementary Services for SMS
The objective of this study item is to document the requirements of value added services for SMS, and identify which can be met by existing solutions and which could be candidates for future standardisation. New!

55 Simultaneous access to multiple networks
Some FMC scenarios require seamless roaming and handover between a GSM/GPRS/3G mobile network and a WLAN. The fixed and mobile networks may be independently authenticated. To maintain the quality of the customer experience, seamless handover is also important. The objective of this work item is therefore to determine the requirements for seamless roaming and handover between a GSM/GPRS/3G mobile network and a WLAN. New!

56 Incorporation of non 3GPP networks selection
The objective of this WI is to study how a UE which can support both cellular and non 3GPP access performs the network selection procedures. The study could lead to a further work item to update TS to include selection of these access types. New!

57 – IV – Items highlights & Questions

58 Item Highlight SMS service level interworking
The meeting discussed a proposed work item description on SMS service level interworking but could not reach consensus. A show of hands indicated that the majority of the delegates were in favour of sending the WID for approval at SA. Concerns raised included the following: The objectives of the WID can already be met (Vodafone, Siemens, Motorola) More time is needed to assess the interaction with OMA SA1 would like to ask guidance to SA to break the deadlock

59 Other Issues/highlights
Study items on 3GPP system interaction with non-3GPP system At TSG SA-33 it was stated that generic solutions for support of non-3GPP accesses are preferred. SA1 has therefore started two study items investigating the interaction between 3GPP and non 3GPP access technologies. SA1 would like SA to confirm the above statement therefore allowing the progress of the study and eventually the start of work items on the subject. Changes to frozen releases for VGC Body Any other?

60 – V – Action Items

61 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (I/XII)
A32-06 MBMS.3: request for performance requirements (SP ) RAN requested TSG SA WG1 to review document TD RP (CR to ) and to comment on the overall service requirements related to Broadcast in LTE MBMS. Status: SA1 has agreed a change request on the subject and produced a reply to TSG RAN. CLOSED

62 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (II/XII)
AI33-01: MITe.1 Supplementary services alignment TSG SA asked SA1 to remove from the Release-7 version of TS the requirement to align the supplementary services provided in the CS domain and in PS domain. Status: SA1 has created a Release 7 CR to remove the requirement for aligning the supplementary services in the CS and PS domain as requested and submitted it for approval at this TSG SA. CLOSED

63 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (III/XII)
AI33-02: LCS.1 Status of LCS for I-WLAN TSG SA asked SA1 to provide information on the status of the requirements for LCS for I-WLAN. This information will be needed in order to update the work plan. Status: As far as SA1 is concerned the work is finished. SA1 is now waiting for SA2 to progress the work and will check if updates to the stage 1 are needed as a consequence of SA2 decisions. CLOSED

64 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (IV/XII)
AI33-03: USIM.1 change of USIM on the fly TSG SA WG3 (SA3) presented a change request to TS (CR 101 in SP ) where they propose to prevent the possibility of changing the active USIM application as a result of the invocation of a service. TSG SA asked SA1 to verify that there is no requirement to perform USIM change on the fly. If instead a requirement exists for this functionality a change request to Release 8 should be created. Status: SA1 has not addressed this topic in the meeting. OPEN

65 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (V/XII)
AI33-04: SMS-IP.1 Requirements for SMSIP TSG SA WG2 (SA2) presented TS (“Support of SMS and MMS over generic 3GPP IP access; Stage 2 (Release 7)”) for approval, however it was noted that some of the contents of section 4 are more suitable for a stage 1 document. As a consequence TSG SA has asked SA1 to include the relevant requirements in the suitable 22 series document. It should also be noted that TSG SA asked TSG SA WG2 to remove the MMS from the title. Status: SA1 has agreed a number of change requests addressing this issue. CLOSED

66 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (VI/XII)
AI33-05: SMS-IP.2 Change request on messaging interworking The change requests on “Requirements for supporting SMS/EMS/MMS in IMS (Rel-7, Rel-8)” in document SP were sent back to SA1 for further elaboration. The revision of the change requests sent back to SA1 should be created under a new work item. Status: See slide <link!> . OPEN

67 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (VII/XII)
AI33-06: MPS.1 Rename the TS “Multimedia Priority Service Requirements” During the presentation of the new work item on Multimedia Priority Service it was noted that it would be worthwhile to modify the name so that it is differentiated from the feasibility study TR TSG SA tasked SA1 to rename the work item as well as the deliverable to avoid confusion as well as to adopt this as a general rule. Status: SA1 has approved a revision of the work item which is presented to this TSG SA. CLOSED

68 Actions on WG1 allocated during SA#33 (VIII/XII)
AI33-07: SAE.1 continuity of voice service between evolved 3GPP system and legacy TSG SA asked SA1 to consider to extend the requirement on continuity of TS11 at domain and RAT changes to cover also emergency calls (TS12).
