5. CPR means cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Cardio- means “of the heart”. Pulmonary- means “ of the lungs”. Resuscitation is a medical word that means “to or revive” bring back to life. 6. Sometimes CPR can help a person who has stopped breathing and whose heart may have stopped beating, to stay alive. 7. People who handle emergencies such as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, doctors, and nurses are all trained to do CPR. 8. When a rescuer gives some breaths to someone who is not breathing on his or her own is called an artificial respiration or mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Directions: Create a cartoon that shows how a person can be rescued or saved. Use your notebook to recall facts or images. Fold drawing paper into 6 boxes. In EACH box show a stage of the emergency, safety precautions used, and rescue measures taken. Label each cartoon telling me what’s going on. Remember, your person lives!! ***YOU MUST Color all cartoons!!***
