[Teacher Page] CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. What is CPR? The minutes following cardiac arrest are critical in the survival of the victim. When the heart stops beating, oxygenated blood stops flowing to vital organs, and death can occur. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a way for you to help that person. Knowing CPR can save someone’s life, and is a great thing to know how to do. In this webquest, you will learn more about basic CPR techniques. Although there are many variations and certifications of CPR, being able to perform the basic steps can be the difference between life or death for a friend, family member, or stranger in need of help. The Task Student Page [Teacher Page] Find a partner to work with. Following the websites in the webquest, you will be required to answer the questions provided. The questions and websites will give you some background information on the basic steps to performing CPR, as well as illustrating some important things to keep in mind if you ever have to perform CPR on a real patient. As you look through the websites, keep in mind the final product: Your group will be required to perform a skit combining your newfound knowledge of the CPR process. Answer the questions we ask about the websites. 4. Keep in mind that you’ll have to perform a CPR skit using proper steps. Take some notes if it will help you do this well. [Teacher Page] By completing this Webquest, you should have a better understanding of the basic steps to performing CPR. You may have come into this Webquest with some prior knowledge of CPR, however, practice makes perfect as doing everything correctly under pressure will be difficult. Being able to perform these simple tasks may be the difference between life or death for someone you love. Remember, this Webquest is not a certification, and taking real classes through the Red Cross or American Heart Association is definitely recommended.
