Pistil – female part Stigma – top of pistil, receives pollen Style – middle part of pistil Ovary – produces egg cells that turn into seeds when fertilized PISTIL

Male Parts of a Flower STAMEN STAMEN – male part
Anther – produces pollen Filament – supports the anther STAMEN

Other Parts of a Flower Petal Sepal
Petal – brightly colored to attract insects; protect parts that make seeds Sepals – leaf-like part covers & protects flower bud Petal Sepal

animals – attracted to nectar (sweet liquid) wind

Seed Dispersal wind float stick to animal’s fur bury nuts & seeds
GERMINATE – (START TO GROW) need water, oxygen, right temperature

Life Cycle of a Plant Sprout – break seed coat and begin to form roots
Seedling – roots establish & form young plant Adult plant – can flower
